June 1 - Bob's Birthday!

Rain greeted us this morning and as you can see, our driving and walking conditions are a bit of a challenge!

Today was the second day of work at Talita Cumi and the school. At the school, the day began with setbacks. Both holes had large amounts of water in them and the sides had collapsed due to the rain. There was very little work we could do with the holes that were dug yesterday. Therefore, today we worked on the indoor sewer and water systems for the restrooms. We also began constructing a cement walkway.

At Talita Cumi, we chiseled more cement away for a water heater line. We also continued our work on the closets and the painting of the bricks. After lunch we played various games with the TC children. We discovered the new water heater line is going through cement originally designed for a driveway. Which made it very difficult to chisel.

Karen- I came here thinking I would teach the children, but they have taught me so much more.

Mike- I continue to believe that smiles and excitement are the same in every language and culture.

Ellen- It is extremely hard to work when all of the TC children want to play with you. As you can guess, I get sidetracked easily. All of the children's love has been my favorite part.

Bob's special Bolivian birthday cake!  One of their family's favorite.  Lots of rich chocolate - YUMMY!
Ken with Shirley.

Dennis & Ximena

Mike with Valeria

Karen with Gabriel

Darren with Mery & Christina
Darren got to give the devotional at the chapel at Noel Kemp School today.  This is Mike translating for him.

Duck, Duck, Goose with the children.
Karen & Morgan chipping away at the trench.  Linda said "Plan B" was going to be DYNAMITE! Needless to say, there was a little frustration at this project today.  A cut water line, a cut sewer line, a runaway saw (thankfully David still has his finger), etc.
The wall is progressing and the window a little more secure than we left it yesterday.  Scaffolding was added later today, which was quite a project.  Please keep Dennis in your prayers as he injured his shoulder today at this project.
The rain filled and collapsed some of the holes dug at Noel Kemp School yesterday.  What a bummer!

"Chip 'n Dale" chipping away at the bathroom project at Noel Kemp. (Morgan wants you to known that she is Chip and Charise is Dale.)
This is affectionately known as "Mike's Rock" (Ask us about it when we return home.) Below is affectionately known as "Aaron's Well".  Today he was "The Chosen One".  Hmmm. . . What will tomorrow hold?

Please continue to keep our team's safety in your prayers.  As you noticed above, we had a few mishaps today and are thankful nobody was hurt more seriously.
